Path to Joy

Knowledge is priority
A cheerful heart leads the way
Secret things will come
When love’s received
When I get over myself
*
Understanding is the path
Your story and the others
To do this I must listen
Search for the wisdom
*
Insight comes to those
Who seek it with all their heart
Who have the courage to ask
Move outside the box
Of religion and the world
I focused on a person
*
I sought the counsel
Of those who know how to love
Know how to be still and hear
Not fix me but help
Point to possibilities
Give respect and room to think
*
Their cheerful look brought me joy
Good news brought health to my bones
Friendship born in acceptance
With laughter and song
*
I will pursue righteousness
I will hunger for the truth
I will make love my focus
For myself and God
*
God teaches me how to love
Brings me freedom to be me
Enhances those around me
Surprises with joy
*
My simple prayer to God is this.
*
I want to please you
To bring joy and love to you
Be light in the world
*
These reflections come after reading Psalm 45 and Proverbs 15.

Laughter is a good life sign
Good cheer is right medicine
For those we meet on the way
Lightness brings the light
Weep with those who weep
Be fully present with joy
And give peace where it is needed
Presence is power
Learn to live in the moment
Give intentional kindness
Your life is lived in a day
That is all we have
Remembering the past days
Can help us live now
Learn from your experience
Learn also from other’s lives
Awareness is most helpful
Create internal space

I do know real joy
Along the way I have found it
My greatest treasure
Drink deeply from this great joy
Practice its presence daily
What pleasure it is to wake
To joy in the morning hour (early dawn)
A joy much larger than pain
A love beyond words
Laughter is a good life sign
Good cheer the right medicine
For those we meet on the way
Lightness brings the light
I find great freedom
In living for just one thing
A joy to be told
I know it is a mystery
Ask someone who lives it well

When I awake, I listen
In the spirit of the now
Each day brings new surprises
Be still, watch closely

Seize the moment well
Use your mind, heart, soul
And you will laugh more

Laughter, a good antidote
Sometimes you can see clearly
When you do not take yourself
Too seriously
Relax and be you
You are unique and special

My mouth is filled with laughter
My tongue with songs of great joy
The God I know is good
