Love Pours Down Like Rain

January 5, 2015

*

I wait in expectation
Morning by morning I seek
To listen to your kind voice
To walk in the light

*

Those who tell lies crush others
Homes are destroyed, children lose
The safety and love God gave
With two loving souls

*

No word can we trust
Hearts are full of destruction
Only action speaks

*

I found a place of refuge
Place I can be glad again
God can restore the real joy
Spread his protection

*

Those who love your name
Will find a place to rejoice
When we seek a pure heart
Our eyes are opened
Love pours down like the rain
We experience God’s love

*

Forgiveness from God
Is the greatest gift of all
Then we can forgive
The one we have hurt the most
The offense against our souls

*

We wounded ourselves
Lied to ourselves and others
Miracles of forgiveness
Comes to those who will repent
Accept God’s love and give it

*

God will run to receive you
Others will be unable
Celebrate this gift and give
Others time to heal

*

Reflections from Psalm 5 with awareness of the Father-son relationship in Luke 15.

Longings

December 17, 2013

~

Two things will anchor your life

The first is God does not lie

You can overflow with hope

Heaven is for real
~

The Holy Spirit

Gives you the power to see

And experience the hope

Overflow with joy

Anchored in reality

Illuminated by love

~

In marriage a struggle comes

Aware of the weaknesses

Others failings and my own

There’s war in the soul
~

What do I yearn for

What is my greatest longing

Is it for real love

The ever lasting friendship

Of the beloved who’s near

~

We unconsciously expect

For a person to provide

Those deep internal longings

It never happens

~

Only God can give

A deep soul rhythm of joy

And dance with the soul

Others can participate

Celebrate with you his love

~

There is a separateness

For there to be a oneness

A paradox discovered

When we come in trust

~

This is discovered

Through a life time of seeking

Making choices to trust him

With impossible

Circumstances we live in

We choose his voice to follow
~
“God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which (1) it is impossible for God to lie, (2) we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor of the soul, firm and secure……” Hebrews 6:16-18

~

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

~

“….we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently….” Romans *:23-25

learn to love

June 30, 2010

~
Marriage is complex
Honesty and confession
I didn’t know what I was doing
Taking responsibility
I learned how to love
~
I’ve given a lot of thought
Looking back at my story
I stand outside myself
Look down at my dilemma
Muse, ponder, and remember
~
I found a new path
And help along the way
From those who were living free
Seek and you will find
~
Intimate presence
A woman who likes herself
Even in her weaknesses
Reflects a real joy
Is able to live the day
Peaceful, kind, transparent
~
I know a woman like that
Been married forty-five years
Complex but very simple
Brilliant but approachable
~
Rejoice in the day
She is able to do it
Regardless of me
~
Intense suffering
Along with desperate prayer
You’ll find peace
A window of hope opens
To a love larger than life

a tribute to my wife

November 16, 2009

~
She is a balanced woman
She laughs and sings when alone
She takes delight in people
She is my beloved

I love to hear her singing
She plays the dulcimer well
Her poetry tells a tale
Of the years gone by

Her smile captures me
Her forgiveness renews us
Her joy is larger than me
She knows who she is

She is not without her faults
But she has learned how to think
Not take too seriously
Herself or others

One of the places

There seems to be confusion

Making marriage last

Forty-four years of marriage

With someone opposite me

Has been a problem to solve

How can she like me

She said, “I do not like you”

I said, “I do not like you back”

Now we have a problem

So what do we do

We have four children

Responsibilities here

Children we love and care for

Will the past dictate

My parents divorced

They could not figure it out

The children suffered greatly

So what do I do

I decided to face me

To see my problem not hers

I wanted us to be friends

The way it all started out

In seeking I understand

Barriers in me

I must deal with my issues

Seek understanding of me

Study personality

I needed insight

So the first place to begin

You must decide who you are

The person you want to be

Then state it clearly

Solitude is hard

It is part of the journey

Beginning with me

a treasure

August 20, 2009

~
When I consider my story
Looking back at the choices
There is one that changed my life
I looked for real love

Yes, I found it real
A love that welcomed me in
We shared a deep common ground
The soil of our souls was joy
A treasure we both had found
A rich higher love

We now have years behind us
To give away to others
We are learning to follow
Freedom, joy and peace

It’s available to all
No one is excluded here
All it takes is one person
Listening for love

Charlotte and Terry

Charlotte and Terry

I remember when I saw her
Briskly walking approaching
With an energy and joy

Her greeting was electric
My soul leapt surprised by joy
I wanted to know her name
They called her “Charlotte”

It was a rainy evening
I was walking behind her
I gave up my umbrella
I asked her for cover

She was kind and receiving
I bought her an ice cream cone
Then walked her back to the dorm
Graciously said “Bye”

The thing that impressed me most
She was kind to everyone
I was looking for someone
Who reflected love

I wanted to be her friend
Friendship does not make demands
Nor does it try to possess
It gives with no strings attached

We would laugh a lot
Our hearts felt lighter and free
We both had the same focus
A love larger than us
